The AWAP was founded in response to a worrying reality: women remain under-represented in the majority of scientific disciplines (particularly in Archaeology and Paleontology as well as in related research fields) and have less access to higher responsibilities than men.

The AWAP’s objectives

Provide visibility and promote women Archaeo-logists and Paleontologists.

Create a network to discuss issues related to the place of women in Science.

Encourage interdisciplinary, scientific exchanges, and collaborations.

Encourage scientific vocations among girls.

Promote the work of women scientists to the general public.
AWAP is aimed at the scientific research and higher education community, but also at anyone sensitive to issues of gender equality in Science.
